Christopher Howard - Positive Thinking Weekend
I'd been given tickets to attend a positive thinking /change your life weekend by a friend who thought it would really help me. I wanted to go but felt guilty that I had been to Germany earlier in the week and now I would be away from 6am to 11pm for three days. I was conscious of the fact that I hadn't spent much time with Mya and all this disruption was not going to be good for her. But I wanted to go on this course because I felt that it could help my state of mind and I beleive that is one of the most important components in my recovery. Simon and I decided that I should go on the Friday and Saturday and spend the day with Mya on the Sunday. So I did. I went with my sister Jeevan and cousin Pally.
It was a great course. Very American and 'happy clappy' but I think it worked. Unfortunately, the effects of the treatment earlier in the week were starting to take effect. I was absolutely exhausted by lunch time. I kept drifting in and out of sleep in some of the sessions because I was so tired. Saturday was even harder than the Friday. I really did feel quite unwell. I had been told that Cisplatin is one of the more toxic chemotherapies. I was learning that it really was, as I had been feeling really nauseous and weak.
Anyway, collapsed in bed about 12pm when I got home on Saturday. The next day was a complete write off. I had overdone it by going on the course and couldn't move out of bed. So much for spending quality time with Mya and Simon!!! Poor Simon, had to look after Mya on his own again while I slept most of the day. Felt very low today. Hate being ill!!!
