First appointment with my UK Oncologist after the double mastectomy. He was very pleased to see me looking so well, although he did make the comment that I looked a little pale. He suggested that I have my bloods tested before my next appointment. I am really struggling to sleep as I find it difficult to get comfortable at night. So it could just be because I am very tired. I’m sure it will get better as I heal. After examining me, my Oncologist said that he was very impressed with the results of the surgery. His exact words were “having surgery has been the best thing since sliced bread for you”. I really respect him for being so positive about it. He had previously (over the last 4 years) told me that surgery wasn’t an option. It was because of the advice given to me by The Leonardis Klinik that I pushed so hard to get the double mastectomy.
We discussed what the next steps would be. Radiotherapy is the next immediate course of action, with a view to having further chemotherapy, monoclonal antibody drugs and finally immunotherapy in Germany.
I don’t have enough mobility in my arms to be able to start radiotherapy. So we agreed that I would continue with my after surgery exercises and see him again in a couple of weeks.
I was really pleased with how well my appointment went. He was so positive, supportive and encouraging towards me. I really feel like things are on the up.
