Too Ill to Have Thermotherapy

Felt really ill all evening and had a very high fever throughout the night.  Didn't know whether to go to Germany in the morning.  I didn't feel well enough to be flying.  My pyjamas were soaking wet with sweat.  I woke up at 4.15 and got myself ready to go.  I couldn't stop myself from crying.  I felt so shivery and ill, but for some reason I didn't feel that I could cancel my trip.  Measured my temperature before I left and it was above 40°C.  Not good!!

My sister and I arrived at the clinic at 12.15pm.  I was very, very unwell by this point.  Dr Glontig took one look at me and decided that he wouldn't be able to give me the thermotherapy.  As my bloods were OK yesterday, they decided to go ahead with the chemotherapy, which I was relieved about, because otherwise I would have flown out for no reason at all.

Spoke to Simon who told me that the blood cultures had shown that there were two bugs in my PICC line.  More tests had to be carried out to determine whether the bugs could be treated with antibiotics alone, or whether I needed to have the line removed.

It was a very difficult night again, fighting the fever.  So was looking forward to going home in the morning, more so than normal.
